What is Unum?

Unum is an online client and document management service designed for treatment providers. Everything in Unum runs in your web browser, so there is nothing to install. It makes the treatment process virtually paperless, with online document generation, electronic releases of information, and document sharing built in.

Unum also includes behavioral health assessments you can ask a client to complete as part of their treatment. Associates, such as parole and probation officers, can join Unum to share and receive documents with providers.

Unum (pronounced OO-num) is Latin for "one". All of your client records are in one place. Providers with Georgia's Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD), for whom Unum was created, are all in one place as well: if a client needs further care at the end of treatment, they can choose another provider and be transferred to them within Unum.

About us

ADE Incorporated

ADE Incorporated develops Unum. ADE's programmers built it from the ground up with the help of Renee Eady of The Ready Train.

ADE was founded in 1983 and has its corporate office in Clarkston, Michigan. It was an early leader in automated substance use assessment. ADE customers use the Professional Assessment Software Suite (PASS), a web-based program for ADE's three substance use assessments: NEEDS and SALCE for adults, and JASAE for juveniles.

ADE has since expanded into behavioral health assessment. ADE Solutions and SolutionsPro serve individuals and professionals with a wide selection of assessments, including public domain surveys and original surveys by ADE.

The Ready Train

Renee Eady of The Ready Train, Inc. is the contracted trainer and contact for Unum, ADE SolutionsPro, and continuing education programming. For an Unum overview tour or one-on-one help, book a time with Renee.

Renee founded The Ready Train, a training company with a hands-on approach to learning practical skills. She is a behavior change specialist, a member of the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers (MINT), a Licensed Professional Counselor, and a Certified Addiction Supervisor.

Our story

Unum started in the summer of 2016 as a client document management system for Georgia's Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD). It was a secure place to store the documents and information for every client who completed a clinical evaluation through DBHDD, all in one place.

It grew quickly. Templates were added to client records so providers could create their own documents for each client. Assessments were built into the program, and clients could open their own accounts to receive the documents shared with them.

The turning point was sharing entire client records, not just documents, with other providers and associates. That secure sharing is what sets Unum apart from other electronic record systems. Electronic releases of information followed for clients to sign, along with a referral process so clients could choose a new provider when further treatment is needed.
